Off the beaten path in Northwest DC, not far from the Vice President’s residence at the Naval Observatory, is one of the most impressive collections of modern art, sculpture and impressive displays of architecture at the Kreeger Museum. Housed in the former home of the museum’s founders, David and Carmen Kreeger, the museum features an eclectic collection, including works from Cezanne, Chagall, Degas, van Gogh, Monet — all in an intimate setting unlike any other museum. As David Kreeger said “I never bought art as an investment. I bought it for love and I was lucky. Art that embodies the creative spirit of men transcends the value of money.” The world-class collection is worth a visit, but the architecture of the space alone merits a visit. The modernistic architecture and impressive indoor and outdoor spaces offer unique environments for events.
